Disclaimer and Copyright Statement

Welcome to the communitybuilders.nsw website!

This website has been developed and made accessible with a view to encouraging the public availability and the free exchange of information and opinion. Despite the relatively unregulated nature of the Internet, there are nevertheless a few matters which you should bear in mind when visiting our site.

Searching for information on the Internet

The advent of the Internet means that people like you have better than ever and faster than ever access to a vast amount of information. Of course, the output of any Internet search is dependent upon both the nature of the search engine and the search topic used. You should bear this in mind when performing searches through any Internet search facility.

Similarly, you should not expect a search conducted through any search engine to provide you with an exhaustive list of the sources of information on the search topic.

Site content

The communitybuilders.nsw site, and any links from it to third-party sites, have been established as an information source and with a view to promoting tolerance, cultural and other diversity in our society. You should, therefore, bear in mind that some material which appears at the communitybuilders.nsw site and any linked sites may possibly cause offence or upset to some people. communitybuilders.nsw regrets, but cannot take responsibility for, any such offence or upset caused.

In the event that you are offended or upset by the material which appears at an Internet website, you are entitled to lodge a complaint with the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA), who will then investigate the complaint and take such action as it thinks fit. If you would like to know more about the ABA's role in regulating Australian Internet content, you can visit its website at www.aba.gov.au.

Due to the communitybuilders.nsw's desire to promote a free exchange of opinion and information, it does not necessarily endorse or support the views, opinions, standards or information which appear at this site or any linked sites. You should also not interpret the absence of a link from the site to any other site as a criticism or comment by communitybuilders.nsw on the provider or content of that other site.

Unfortunately, communitybuilders.nsw cannot warrant and does not represent that the material which appears at the communitybuilders.nsw site or any linked sites is complete, current, reliable and/or free from error.

communitybuilders.nsw (and the New South Wales Government) also cannot accept any responsibility or liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense you might incur as a result of the use of or reliance upon the materials which appear at this or any linked sites, whether or not caused by the negligence of communitybuilders.nsw (or the New South Wales Government).

You should be aware that the providers of linked sites will often have their own protocols and standards in relation to their sites and the information which appears at them. We urge you to familiarise yourself with any such protocols and standards.

Funding Programs and Awards

Further, recipients should obtain their own independent advice before making any decisions that rely on this information.

On-line discussion forums and chat rooms

One of the exciting features of the communitybuilders.nsw site is that it allows you an opportunity to publish your views on topics of interest on one of our bulletin boards, or to participate in on-line discussion forums and chat sessions on topical issues.

While communitybuilders.nsw believes that the on-line discussion forums and chat sessions are an ideal way of learning more about the diversity of public views and opinions on contemporary issues, the generally unrestricted nature of the Internet could potentially lead to the discussions and chat sessions being abused or misused by some people.

Accordingly, it is a condition of publication of material at any bulletin board, or participation in any on-line discussion forum or chat session, that the communitybuilders.nsw's Vision and Objectives which are contained in the communitybuilders.nsw Editorial Policy and About this Site be observed and adhered to.

To facilitate the free exchange of public opinion and at the same time monitor any potentially disruptive or undesirable input, a moderator has been appointed to supervise the running of the bulletin board, on-line discussion forums and chat sessions. The moderator is an officer of communitybuilders.nsw.

All postings to the forum go to the moderator before publication so there will be a delay of a day or so before your posting is published. All new postings are included in the daily forum email bulletin, join the forum email list to receive the bulleitn.

The moderator has the right to:

  • refuse, or remove from the site, material submitted by a user which in the moderator's reasonable opinion tends to incite violence, racial hatred or intolerance against any group in our society, or which in the moderator's opinion may constitute a defamatory statement, an infringement of copyright or a breach of any other law;

  • refuse, or remove from the site, material of any user and contact, and/or cancel the registration of, any user who in the moderator's reasonable opinion has failed to observe, or is otherwise acting in a manner inconsistent with, the Vision and Objectives of the communitybuilders.nsw site; and

  • edit, abridge, amend or otherwise alter any material submitted to the communitybuilders.nsw site for publication.

In the event that the moderator edits, abridges, amends or otherwise alters a user's submitted material, the user shall (whenever possible) be advised accordingly and given the opportunity to withdraw the information from publication.

Only items submitted with a valid email address and/or other valid, up to date contact details will be considered for publication.

In addition, please note that a user is not entitled to have their material published in any circumstances, and the moderator has complete discretion as to whether to permit publication.

Whilst all due care will be taken by the moderator, the State of New South Wales does not warrant or represent that the information is free from errors or ommission, or that it is exhaustive. Any comments contained on the discussion forum are the comments of their author only and are not the comments of the State of New South Wales or its servants or agents.

Privacy

Please remember that any information disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information or other peoples' personal information.

By participating in the discussion forum or chat sessions, you consent to disclosure to the public of your email address and the content of your contribution. You may request the moderator of the discussion forum to delete an email provided by someone else which contains information relating to you.
