Australian Natural Resources AtlasThe Australian Natural Resources Atlas and Data Library provides access to the data, reports and information prepared by the National Land and Water Resources Audit
Australia's long-term economic prospects depend on the sustainable use of our natural resources and conservation of our unique biological diversity. The National Land and Water Resources Audit was a project undertaken by the Natural Heritage Trust in 1997 to improve land, water and vegetation management by providing better information to resource managers. From 1997 - 2002 the Audit significantly progressed the collection and collation of primary data and information related to Australia's natural resource management. Recommendations to further develop the assessments of Australia's natural resources were identified in the final report of the Audit (2002). The Australian Natural Resources Atlas is the web-based community interface to all the information prepared by the Audit.
