Evaluating Internet Resources

The "Ten C's" provide criteria to help you to critically evaluate Internet resources.

Anyone can place information on the web and there is so much available that the ability to critically evaluate information is an important skill in this ICT age.

You need to be able to critically analyse a website for authorship, bias, authenticity, applicability and usability as well as the ethics of the site.

The "Ten C's" is one method developed by the McIntyre Library of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to evaluate Internet resources to help you become discriminating users of ICT.

The 10 Criteria are:

  • Content
  • Credibility
  • Critical Thinking
  • Copyright
  • Citation
  • Continuity
  • Censorship
  • Connectivity
  • Comparability
  • Context
