Profile of Young Australians: Facts, Figures and IssuesThe Foundation for Young Australians has commissioned this publication – Profile of Young Australians - to provide a snapshot of the status of young people at the beginning of the 21st century, across major areas that affect their well-being. The primary aim of producing this profile is to provide current information on young people that will be of value to a wide range of people and organisations, including the Foundation, that work with young people across Australia. The Profile of Young Australians, published in 2003, encapsulates the most current information and statistics about young people across a wide range of subject areas. It demonstrates that there are common themes that have the potential to impact on the well-being of young people. The exploration of these themes in each chapter of the text serves to emphasise the inter-connectedness between the issues that impact on young people and supports the notion of working at a holistic level with young people. The Chapters cover:
Each chapter has lists of Tables, Figures and References. The Profile is an important document that the Foundation hopes “will make a significant contribution to the knowledge base on the status of young people in Australia and provide a further catalyst for the positive changes that are being brought about by young people in Australia and by the people that work with them”.
