Brighter prospects: Enhancing the resilience of Australia

This collection of essays on resilience, from the Australia 21 group, explores aspects of resilience in Australia in a variety of contexts.

The essays in this volume reflect perspectives on resilience from a range of experts in various disciplines. The authors were asked to contribute these viewpoints as a way to get readers thinking about processes and trends that might be increasing or decreasing aspects of Australia’s resilience to future changes.

A rigorous definition of resilience has not been imposed as the organisation sees value in hearing the different ways in which this concept resonates with people from different backgrounds. However, all authors are clear about their definition and to recommend policy and management to enhance desirable resilience and/or reduce undesirable resilience.

The report seeks to encourage readers to this about how well prepared Australia and Australians are prepared for the future.
