Community Development Handbook and Facilitators Guide

This introductory handbook and accompanying Facilitators Guide were written by Flo Frank and Anne Smith for the Labour Market Learning and Development Unit at Human Resources Development in Canada. They aim to support the understanding and effective application of community development.

The Handbook

The Handbook and Guide are available for download in English and French.

It is not designed to be a textbook for practitioners, but as an introductory guide to community development and capacity building.

It is designed primarily for those who have an interest in community development but who may not have an in-depth understanding of the concept, the process or the resources available.

The Facilitators Guide

This is designed to help facilitate learning and discussions about community development based on the contents of the Handbook.

• Evaluations
• Facilitators information and tips.
