Case Management for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Clients: Research Report by Patrick Harris; Interviews by Cecilia Lenagh

A report of research undertaken by the Ethnic Communities Council of NSW and NSW Community Options on best practice for case management of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients.

The pilot project on which this report is based aimed to identify aspects of the case management process that are considered pertinent for CALD clients by experienced case managers.

To achieve this aim, a literature review was undertaken and interviews were conducted with case management coordinators under the NSW Community Options Program.

In line with the literature, results indicated that culture was considered to be very important by those interviewed, with issues around family, needs, awareness, the impact of culture, and language all highlighted as key themes.

Based on the findings, key recommendations were made with regard to future research and training.
