Voice for SONGVoice for SONG, a coalition of workers representing a wide variety of small non-government organisations in Western Sydney have recently developed a web-site and published an issues paper.
Voice for SONG is a collaboration of small community organisations concerned with promoting the existing and potential value of their organisations to a healthy, democratic society. In conjunction with key peak organisations, Western Sydney Community Forum (WSCF), NCOSS and Association of Child Welfare Agencies (ACWA), Voice for SONG aims to collectively raise awareness of issues affecting small NGOs, by providing a strong lobbying voice to further progress and support the survival of small non-government organisations in meeting local community needs. Voice for SONG recently organised a Roundtable to discuss the future of small community organisations in NSW. This is the first step in recognising the value of small organisations and the services that they deliver. A paper has been prepared on some of the issues faced by small community-based, human service, non-government, not-for-profit sector organisations.
