Boards, Committees and Governance Centre

A range of resources to attract new people to serve on the boards and management committees of community organisations.

The Boards, Committees and Governanace Centre is a landmark project of the Department for Victorian Communities undertaken in conjunction with the Municipal Association of Victoria and 'Our Community' web-site.

The project enables community groups and individuals to develop better management boards, become better board members, find positions on boards and gain access to assistance provided by the Boards, Committees and Governance Centre.

The web-site features:

• 'Step one - The Essential Facts', describing what a Board is, who can be a member, prerequisites for joining a Board and assistance provided by the Boards, Committees and Governance Centre.
• Resource Centre Help Sheets, providing a range of very specific information about Boards.
• A Policy Bank of downloadable free policies and procedures relevant to not-for-profit Boards and Committees.
• A Board Matching Service, for organisations seeking new Board members and people wishing to join Boards.
• A Consultants Register, listing people who are offering assistance in developing Boards.
• 'Diversity on Boards' providing information on how to attract a diverse range of people onto Boards and Management Committees.
