Australian Privacy Awards and Medal

Funder: Office of the Privacy Commissioner

Program summary
The Australian Privacy Awards aim to encourage, recognise and reward businesses, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations that engage in good privacy practices.

The Australian Privacy Medal aims to provide acknowledgement to an individual who has exhibited an outstanding level of achievement in advancing privacy in Australia.

Key dates
Closing date of next funding round to be advised

All too often, organisations that 'get it right' when it comes to privacy fail to make the limelight. The Australian Privacy Awards have been developed to address this lack of acknowledgement. After all, organisations that have successfully integrated sound privacy practices into their operations and have assisted in promoting privacy rights and responsibilities, are certainly worthy of public recognition. These organisations are also models for the Australian community as a whole and others can learn from their approaches to privacy protection.

If your organisation has engaged in a privacy project or initiative, or adopted a privacy-enhancing system that you believe warrants broader acclaim, we want to hear from you. The Australian Privacy Awards are aimed at recognising your efforts in a very practical way. The level of positive acknowledgement they offer can help to enhance your organisation's reputation among your customers, external audiences and other stakeholders, raise your organisation's profile as a leader in the privacy field and boost the pride of your staff.

No-matter how small your organisation is - whether you are a business, government agency, community group, or NGO - or the scale of your privacy initiative, we still encourage you to enter the Australian Privacy Awards. You never know - you might actually be chosen as a finalist or a winner and you could well become a privacy role model for thousands of other organisations in the years ahead!

Please join us in this important initiative!

Karen Curtis, Australian Privacy Commissioner
