Program summary

auDA Foundation is a charitable trust that was established by .au Domain Administration Limited (auDA) to promote and encourage education and research activities that will enhance the utility of the Internet for the benefit of the Australian community.

Who can apply?

An application must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for funding:

  • the applicant must be an Australian organisation, Australian citizen or resident of Australia
What will be funded?
  • student recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at an Australian university
  • the project must be of direct benefit to the Australian Internet community or the Australian community in general
  • the activity must be undertaken in a socially and environmentally responsible manner
  • the project must comply with standards and guidelines established by the Australian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission

The auDA Foundation fund is a general funding source that is available for projects that fulfil the objectives of the auDA Foundation Charter.

The types of projects that might receive a grant through the fund include:

Education-based, for example: 

  • scholarships for PhD students
  • research into internet related technologies
  • research into the social impact of the internet

Community-based, for example:

  • projects focussing on local, regional and national community groups and organisations
  • research activities that directly benefit the community
  • exploring technologies for improving regional access to the Internet
  • improving access for disadvantaged groups
  • techniques for applying Internet technology to address social and environmental needs
How much funding is available?
$5,000 to $20,000
