National Tree Day

When: 27 July 2008

Join in with thousands of volunteers across the country to help 'Green Up' Australia by planting native trees in your community.

In 2007 more than 200,000 volunteers helped to plant at more than 3000 sites at various locations around the country.

These are impressive results considering the widespread drought and water restrictions currently affecting so much of the country. Trees help to filter water, combat salinity, clean the air and increase flows into water catchments. They also provide food and shelter to Australia's unique wildlife and are an integral part of our country's biodiversity.

By joining us on National Tree Day you can make a real and measurable difference to your community and the environment.

For information about how you can get involved, visit the Planet Ark Tree Day web site www.planet.ark.com or call the National Tree Day Hotline on 1300 88 5000.
