Risky Drinking Fund 2007/08

Risky Drinking Funding Program.

Applications for Risky Drinking funds are now closed. An update of the projects that were funded will be provided shortly.

A Risky Drinking Fund has been established to enable Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) to conduct projects and activities that contribute to reducing risky drinking in their local communities. This is one off funding that will only be available in the 2007/2008 financial year. The fund has come about in response to the NSW State Plan objective to improve the health of the community through reduced rates of obesity, smoking, illicit drug use and risky drinking (S3).

Risky Drinking Funds are non-recurrent and are provided to endorsed or soon to be endorsed CDATs for projects which have at least one of the following objectives:

  • To raise awareness of personal and social impacts associated with risky drinking practices
  • To improve communities’ knowledge of what constitutes risky drinking practices
  • To promote healthy lifestyle activities as an alternative to risky drinking behaviours
  • To reduce the harm associated with risky drinking behaviours, including the incidence of alcohol related domestic violence.

Applications for grants can be up to $10,000 per project.

Funding Criteria

Funding decisions will be made based on the following criteria. The project:

  • Contributes to reducing risky drinking behaviours.
  • Has a sound rationale and project plan.
  • Has demonstrated community support and involves partnerships with other agencies or groups.
  • Has demonstrated consumer / target group involvement either in the project development or implementation.
  • Shows clear links to local and/or regional priorities.

Applications closed 15 April 2008.
