Raymond Terrace/Karuah Community Drug Action Team

Information and contact details about the Community Drug Action Team and links to projects and activities.

Overview

The Raymond Terrace and Karuah Action Team (RTKAT) meets on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings alternate between the two towns.

The team is a combination of CDAT and Community Advisory Board members and includes government and non-government agencies, and community members.

These people are the foundation of the team and work towards the growth of the community by implementing a range of projects.

As individuals from agencies come and go, community members remain dedicated to the community where they live and work.

.What we're doing

“The Community Heart”

The RTKAT have received funding from a Community Development Recourse Grant through the Dept of Housing to produce a community newspaper.   “The Community Heart” will be produced by community members who will inform, educate and encourage community involvement through participation in publishing, writing, photography, sales and distribution. This project will be a sustainable and valuable resource for the community

Youth fair and Markets

The RTKAT is establishing the Undercover Youth Fair and Markets to be run on the third Saturday of each month. The markets will be held in the Port Stephens Council Car Park and the adjoining oval.

The event will encourage family fun outdoors and include sporting demonstrations such as indigenous games. Other sporting groups will also be invited to showcase their activities.

The event will provide the community with a gathering place to share ideas, knowledge, enjoyment and a sense of togetherness. RTKAT will also provide information on the effects of drugs and alcohol to encourage people to make informed choices.
