Overview

The Newcastle Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) was established in 2001.  The Team meets on the third Monday   of the month from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in Newcastle.

What we're doing

Consistent with the principles of the Community Drug Action Strategy, the Newcastle CDAT is committed to working in partnership with agencies, community representatives and government, to:

• Identify alcohol and other drug issues;
• Educate the community about relevant issues; and         
• Implement appropriate collaborative projects.

The Newcastle CDAT is currently supporting a Department of Housing project to provide movies in the local hall at Hamilton South. The movie nights are promoted as alcohol and drug free events.

The CDAT is also in the initial stages of planning for a “Battle of the Bands”. The winner of the event will represent the Newcastle CDAT in a “Battle of the Bands” with the Raymond Terrace CDAT that plan to hold a similar event.
