Lake Macquarie Community Drug Action Team
Working together to improve the wellbeing of children, families and the community.
OverviewWe invite you to join with us building community in our area by addressing the issues, using our strengths, informing ourselves and others, getting involved and acting now. We want our community to be a better and safer place to live. Reducing drug and alcohol misuse in our community starts with individuals. It is an issue that each person can positively contribute to. Drug action is about getting involved and finding local solutions to a problem that can affect any one of us, at any time in so many different ways. The Lake Macquarie Community Drug Action Team meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the Lake Macquarie Council Chambers at Speers Point. What we're doingSafe Party Pack The ‘Every Smarty reports a party!’ pack has been developed by the Charlestown Police Crime Prevention Officer in partnership with the CDAT. The pack provides tips to people organising a party to ensure that all participants have a fun and safe time. The pack has been very well received by the community and additional copies have now been provided to other CDATs for distribution around the Central Coast and Hunter regions. Drug info @ your library The CDAT has purchased a drug info @ your library collection that will be presented to the Toronto Library at the drug info @ your library launch on 5 December 2006 http://www.druginfo.sl.nsw.gov.au Calendar The CDAT is producing a calendar to be distributed in the area. The calendar will advertise drug and alcohol services in the area and promote the CDAT. Youth Information Card The CDAT has received funding to develop and produce a Youth Information Card for young people. The card will contain details about local drug and alcohol services and the front of the card will feature one of five designs depicting the negative effects of alcohol. Partying at the park? Think twice The CDAT has received funding to produce a pamphlet for young people containing information and laws, rules and regulations concerning the consumption of alcohol and partying in parks and reserves.
