Community Drug Action Team Special Fund

Grants for Community Drug Action Teams and associated agencies

2008/09

The Population Health & Community Engagement team at NSW Health would like to advise that its 2008/09 Special Fund has now closed. A total of $300,000 was made available to 52 Community Drug Action Teams to undertake local projects designed to prevent or reduce drug and alcohol related harm in local communities and to participate in activities to enhance the capacity of CDAT members to undertake their valued project work.

2009/10

The Population Health and Community Engagement team at NSW Health will again be providing support to local Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs) across NSW through the provision of $300,000 for the 2009/10 financial year. This will enable CDATs to undertake projects to reduce the local impact of alcohol and other drug problems by identifying gaps in services and working with organisations and other community groups on local projects to address identified problems. Project Officers based in each of the Area Health Services and staff from NSW Health’s Population Health and Community Engagement team will provide support to CDAT members in developing and implementing their projects.

Expressions of Interest for the 2009/10 year have now closed and NSW Health will shortly be notifying CDATs about the response to their Expressions of Interest.

Upon receipt of feedback about their Expressions of Interest, CDATs will be asked to prepare formal applications for funds using the 2009/10 Project Plan and Administration Submission forms. These forms will be provided to CDATs along with feedback about their Expressions of Interest. Project Plans should be submitted to Project Officers no later than 10 weeks prior to the intended commencement of the project.

All previous grants must be spent and acquitted, or the project for which they have been granted must be underway according to a timeframe agreed with Project Officers and the Population Health and Community Engagement team before further allocations are made.

For further information please contact your regional Project Officer. Contact details are available in Find a region and Community Drug Action Team.

If your CDAT is in an area where there is currently no Project Officer and needs assistance in preparing their Special Fund Project Plan or Expression of Interest, then contact Senior Project Officer, Heidi Freeman, Population Health & Community Engagement team on ph (02) 9391 9287 or email hfree@doh.health.nsw.gov.au
