Bourke Community Drug Action Team

Information and contact details about the Community Drug Action Team and links to projects and activities.

Overview

The Bourke Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) was established in 2002. The team meet once a month.

What we're doing

Bourke CDAT is auspiced by Bourke Shire Council. It was created in order to develop a coordinated approach to drug and alcohol services and awareness programs, improving accessibility to culturally appropriate treatment and identifying gaps in early intervention and prevention programs aimed at reducing harm.

The Bourke CDAT Plan aims to meet five key objectives.

  • Increase awareness of people living in Bourke of the causes and harms of drug and alcohol misuse.
  • Increase awareness of available services and places to get information about drug and alcohol issues.
  • Expand the range of recreational and leisure activities and/or facilities for young people in Bourke.
  • Enhance opportunities for young people living in Bourke to express their concerns and needs and to identify issues that are important to them.
  • Increase co-ordination and co-operation between agencies, service providers and community groups around drug and alcohol issues

The team is committed to forming partnerships across the community and the region to raise awareness of the harms of drugs and alcohol related harms.
