Bathurst Community Drug Action Team

Information and contact details about the Community Drug Action Team and links to projects and activities.

Overview

The Bathurst Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) was established in 2001. The team is part of the Bathurst Crime Prevention Committee and   meets every second month, on the second Wednesday at the Bathurst City Council Chambers.  The CDAT is auspiced by Bathurst City Council.

What we're doing

Initially established to respond to local problems associated with the illegal use of drugs and the specific needs of the Kelso community, it was expanded to become the Bathurst CDAT and aims to:

  • inform the community about the range of services available to assist people with drug and alcohol problems
  • raise awareness in the community about the harms associated with drug and alcohol use (including polydrug use) and provide opportunities to promote informed discussion
  • explore support and service options for individuals with drug problems and their parents and families (including detoxification, rehabilitation and post rehabilitation options)
  • ensure the team has representation from the whole community including young people
  • support & link with existing local initiatives, structures and community action plans (such as the Liquor Consultative Committee and Bathurst Crime Prevention Committee)
  • build on NSW drug & alcohol health promotion campaigns of NSW Health, NSW Police, Department of Education & NSW Premier’s Department

The CDAT is continuing to implement its plan to inform the community of the range of drug and alcohol services, raise awareness of the harms associated with drugs and alcohol and explore support and service options for individuals with drug problems and their families.
