Creating Active Communities - Physical Activity Guidelines for Local CouncilsProvides local councils with a practical resource that will assist them to encourage local communities to be more physically active. Research has found that more than half of adult Australians and about half of NSW adults do not adequately participate in physical activity, and that local councils can and do play a critical role in encouraging participation in physical activity. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Local Councils aim to assist all local councils, regardless of their current level of involvement in encouraging physical activity in the community. In particular these guidelines:
Councils are encouraged to support physical activity however they can, and to incorporate the guidelines that are most relevant and achievable for them. The guidelines are divided under the following topics:
