Community Broadcasting

Community Broadcasting Online, a project funded by the Community Broadcasting Foundation and funded by the Commonweatlh Government, and The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, the peak body for community radio and television stations, offer a number of online resources for community broadcasters.

Community Broadcasting Online (CBOnline) is an initiative of the Community Broadcasting Foundation funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Communications, Information, Technology and the Arts (DCITA). The Project encompasses the development of a number of information technology initiatives and online resources for the benefit of the community broadcasting sector.

The CBOnline website has over 400 registered content contributors, and features background information on community broadcasting in Australia, academic research, and information on funding and grants available to community broadcasters.

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) is the peak body for community radio and television stations, providing leadership, advocacy and support for their members to actively provide independent broadcasting services and to build and strengthen local communities.

The CBAA provides advice and support to community broadcasters regarding a variety of issues including: requirements under the Broadcasting Services Act and the sector's Codes of Practice (for radio and television). They also provide advice to members on tax issues, copyright, sponsorship, station management, volunteerism, fundraising, training, etc.  Their website also offers a messageboard for relevant discussion.

AMARC Africa is an international non-profit organisation, which supports and serves community radio broadcasters around the world. AMARC aims to promote the fundamental right to communication and to support development by encouraging co-operation and exchange among its members.  AMARC's mission is to democratise radio broadcasting through local and international action, promote the community radio movement, represent and defend the interests of its members at an international level, and offer various services to its members.
