Shoalhaven Aboriginal Safe Community PartnershipShoalhaven Aboriginal Safe Community Partnership has launched its own community web discussion group. SASCP members work together to promote a healthy and safe Koori community.
Our goal is to be the first Indigenous community designated with the World Health Organisation as a Safe Community. Shoalhaven Aboriginal Safe Community Partnership (SASCP) is a partnership of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who recognise and support the initiatives of the local Aboriginal community in preventing injury and promoting safety amongst Aboriginal people. For Aboriginal people a “safe community” encompasses the whole of life: safety in the home, on the street, at work and at play, at school, for the young and the Elders, living culture, with family, in partnerships, looking after country. A healthy and safe Aboriginal community is the foundation for Aboriginal self-determination and strengthening partnerships with the broader community. It is the basis of true reconciliation. We each have our part to play in supporting the health and safety of the Shoalhaven Aboriginal community and we support the move to become the first Indigenous Safe Community in Australia, designated with the World Health Organisation. Why don't you join us? Follow this link to the SASCP website and discussion group (opens a new browser window)
