Health Promotion Capacity BuildingFrom the Health NSW website, this Capacity Building section focuses on capacity building in health promotion.
Capacity building is an approach to development that builds independence. It increases the range of people, organisations and communities who are able to address problems, and in particular, problems that arise out of social inequity and social exclusion. Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over the determinants of health and thereby improve their health. To reach a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being an individual or group must be able to identify and realise aspirations, to satisfy needs and to change or cope with the environment.
