Safer celebrations - a planning guide for event managers in NSW

Use this practical, online guide to make sure you cover all legal and safety requirements when planning an event where alcohol will be provided. It is also a useful guide for planning any large event.

Safer Celebrations focuses on the issues that can improve the quality and safety of public events. These issues include:

  • the identification and involvement of key stakeholders
  • planning processes
  • management of alcohol, promotion and media strategies
  • entertainment considerations
  • medical care and crowd control.

This on-line guide includes:

  • general information about events
  • a practical guide to assist event managers to plan a specific event.

How to use this guide

  1. Read all the information provided and be aware of the importance of planning events well in advance and in partnership with all stakeholders.

  2. Print out and complete the forms and checklists in Section 2.

  3. Distribute copies to all stakeholders and include a copy of the Event Management Plan.

  4. File the original Event Management Plan for future reference.

  5. Tick off the checklist to ensure all aspects of the planning have been completed.
