Crime Prevention Practitioners Network

CHD Partners has launched a Crime Prevention Practitioners Network to facilitate debate, information sharing and opportunities for professional development.

The Crime Prevention Practitioners network aims to:

  • Stimulate debate on crime prevention in New South Wales (NSW)
  • Assist in the dissemination of relevant information to crime prevention practitioners
  • Provide opportunities for professional development
  • Advocate and lobby on behalf of crime prevention practitioners
  • Share information, practice tips and experiences
  • Develop shared language and tools across disciplines and groups involved in crime prevention
  • Facilitate involvement of practitioners in relevant research projects

This Network is free. The Network will be trialled for a 12-month period commencing October 2007 to determine its effectiveness and need. During that time, the following will be provided:

  • A minimum of six newsletters will be disseminated to all people registered on the Network. These newsletters will provide updates on important research and practice developments related to crime prevention in NSW.
  • A minimum of three free seminars will be conducted to stimulate discussion on key crime prevention issues and to showcase positive crime prevention initiatives.
  • A series of training days will be trialled. These training days will attract a fee and will cover various topics, including:
    • Introduction to Crime Prevention Theories and Practices
    • Crime Analysis
    • Managing Local Partnerships
    • Implementing and Evaluating Crime Prevention Initiatives

To become a member of this Network, email your name and email address to Garner Clancey at garner@chdpartners.com.au .You will then be emailed newsletters, updates about Network seminars and be sent further relevant information periodically. Involvement in the Network can be withdrawn at any time by emailing Garner Clancey.
