Redfern–Waterloo AuthorityRedfern-Waterloo Authority has responsibility for revitalising the Redfern-Waterloo area through urban renewal.
Early in 2002, the NSW Government set up the Redfern Waterloo Partnership Project as a whole of government and whole of community approach to tackle a number of longstanding problems in Redfern and Waterloo. On July 1 2005 The Redfern-Waterloo Authority assumed responsibility for the coordination of human services policy for the Redfern-Waterloo area, and the Redfern Waterloo Partnership project ceased operation. The Redfern-Waterloo Authority Act 2004, governing its principle functions, takes into consideration social, economic, ecological and other sustainable development, public areas, Aboriginal community needs, social cohesion and community safety. A human services reform team has been established within the RWA to develop a Human Services Plan for Redfern and Waterloo. The plan aims to improve the delivery of human services to the people of the area. The team is working with government funded organisations, community groups and government agencies to ensure the plan delivers practical outcomes for the community.
