Youth Resources for Empowerment and Participation

Step-by-step guides for young people who want to carry out action plans, fundraise or run events.

The Youth Employment Summit Campaign (YES) of the United Nations (2002 – 2012) has produced a number of Toolkits to assist youth who want to contribute to the Campaign or attend one of the summits.

The YES Campaign was launched in response to the enormous challenge of youth unemployment facing most countries and affecting millions of young people around the world.

The Toolkits are part of Global Knowledge Resource on Youth Employment (GKR).

Although the Toolkits were devised to contribute to the YES Campaign, they are useful for planning other events and actions.

The Toolkits include:
  • Action Planning Toolkit
  • Fundraising Toolkit
  • How to Organize an Event

The Global Knowledge Resources also contain:
  • Papers
  • Publications
  • Effective practices

There are also a number of useful youth participation resources on the Youth NSW website, including:
  • Best Practice for Youth Participation
  • Talking participation taking action: a local government guide to youth participation

The NSW Commission for Children and Young People also has a resource which helps adults involve children and young people in meetings where decisions about their lives are being made.
