The Sydney Energy Co-operative - A case studySydney Energy Co-operative was founded in June 2007 by a small group of enthusiastic students from the photovoltaic and renewable energy engineering program at the University of NSW.
The group wanted to use their technical knowledge and skills to provide practical solutions to the general community in accessing efficient and environmentally friendly power. The founders specifically chose to set up their enterprise under a not-for-profit co‑operative model because of the values and unique features offered by the structure. This case study provides an overview of the success of the co-operative and the types of activities it has undertaken since its founding. It provides an excellent example of a member driven organisation delivering sustainable and environmentally friendly outcomes for the community.
