Social Enterprise definitions, examples, links and readingsSocial enterprises are part of the growing "Social Economy" and are committed to commercial viability but their prime motivation is not money; it is building a better society. The Social Economy is a thriving and growing collection of organisations that exist between the traditional private sector on the one hand, and the public sector on the other. Sometimes referred to as the "Third Sector", it includes voluntary and community organisations, foundations and associations of many types and private "social purpose" ventures. Social Enterprises are part of this Social Economy. They are businesses that combine the entrepreneurial skills of the private sector with a strong social mission that is characteristic of the social economy as a whole. (Social Enterprise London) Communitybuilders.nsw has compiled information, website links, case studies and related reading on social enterprise.
