The Money Trail - Measuring Your Impact on the Local Economy. The Money Trail is a DIY workbook to measure and prove how effectively different parts of your local economy are working, using a tool developed by the New Economics Foundation.
The New Economics Foundation (NEF), a UK registered charity, and the Countryside Agency, the UK Government's statutory adviser working to promote social equity and economic opportunity for people who live in the countryside, have collaborated to make more visible the seemingly invisible economic benefits of local initiatives that have a strong social impact. LM3 - Local Multipier 3-, developed by NEF, is a tool for measuring the impact of aspects of local spending in communities. LM3 has been tried and tested across the UK, from agriculture to social enterprise to local government procurement, to determine how money coming into your community is then spent and re-spent. The Money Trail, written by Justin Sacks, shows you how to use LM3 to find out what's really happening in your local economy and how you can make it better. Whether you are a business leader, community activist or government official, you want a tool with a concise and comprehensible result so that you can understand whether or not a particular part of your economy is working well, and if not, what action you can take.
