Guide to the web's best free stuff

In this Sydney Morning Herald article, David Flynn provides advice on the best free software available on the internet.

Free software, or freeware, is becoming an increasingly popular alternative, particularly for personal computer users but also for some small non-profit organisations.

Freeware is often an ideal match for older systems with slower processors and less memory, David Flynn writes.

He provides tips of the best freeware to download for:

  • Microsoft Office applications (processing, spreadsheets, presentation, database and drawing);
  • converting to documents into PDFs;
  • working with images and photos;
  • burning and copying data and music;
  • creating newsletters, brochures and flyers;
  • protecting your computer from viruses.

Read more about these freeware programs in David Flynn's Sydney Morning Herald article.
