Case Studies in Sustainability from Western Australia

These case studies document initiatives undertaken in Western Australia that have contributed to increased ecological, social and economic sustainability.

In all sectors of the economy and government, examples abound where sustainability objectives have simultaneously led to economic, ecological and social benefits. This project tries to document some of these examples.

Western Australian University students, engaged in sustainability studies, have prepared the Case Studies. This has provided an opportunity for cooperation between government and higher education to achieve a common goal as part of the University Partnerships for Sustainability Program.

The case studies encompass a wide range of topics including:

• Agriculture and Conservation
• Community Development
• Industry and Technology
• Local Government and Regional Development
• Tourism
• Transport.

Each case study includes:

• sustainability characteristics
• insights and innovation
