Community Sector BankingA joint venture between Bendigo Bank Ltd. and Community 21 Ltd (C21) has established Community Sector Banking to provide financial products and services to the community sector.
Two years of extensive discussions and consultations between community sector organisations and Bendigo Bank Ltd. gave insight into the specific banking and financial needs of the community sector. The result is a new collaborative venture between Bendigo Bank Ltd. and Community 21 Ltd. Unlike a traditional bank, Community Sector Banking is not designed to serve a geographic community, rather a “community of interest”, a collection of stakeholders from the not-for-profit and community sector sharing a common purpose. It brings together public, private and community sector participants to provide innovative financial solutions to enhance capacity and meet the demands of the sector. C21 is wholly owned by community organisations. In NSW, its members include:
What makes Community Sector Banking different is that the community sector plays a central role in determining the priorities and direction of the Bank. Community Sector Banking understands the challenges that face the sector, seeks to work with the sector to resolve them, and is solution driven. It can provide responsive banking services and products to the sector. Collectively, community organisations transact billions of dollars per annum making the community sector a significant contributor to the nation. Now the sector has an opportunity to play a significant role in developing new and sustainable relationships with capital management to undertake commercial and consumer banking activities. Community Sector Banking gives the not-for-profit sector greater control of financial capital, thereby enhancing its contribution to social capital. A range of Bendigo Bank products and services is offered by Community Sector Banking, including the Community Sector Cash management Trading Account which is available exclusively to not-for-profit organisations. Community Sector Banking has offices in NSW, Victoria and Queensland. Follow this link for Community Sector Banking (opens in a new browser window) For further information
