Aspire Australia – Scenarios for Australia in 2025The Business Council of Australia seeks to make a major contribution to national public policy debate by providing a framework for understanding what the future may hold for business, policy makers and Australians generally over the next 20 years.
Over the past 12 months the Business Council of Australia (BCA) has facilitated a major Scenario Project for Australia, Aspire Australia 2025. The aim has been to encourage as wide an audience as possible to think seriously and strategically and engage in debate about Australia’s long-term future. Eighty Australian opinion leaders representing a broad range of interests and disciplines came together to develop the Scenarios. The ScenariosThe Project has produced three Scenarios, three stories which explore the relationships that shape Australia’s capacity to build security, prosperity and social harmony:
Scenario planning provides a framework for analysing and understanding emerging trends and complexities to develop coherent, credible stories about alternative futures which Australia potentially faces. As a result of participant input in an initial series of workshops, the Scenarios focus on six themes:
The BCA released the Scenarios publicly in March 2004 in a publication entitled Aspire Australia 2025. Aspire Australia 2025 can also be purchased for $50.00 including GST and postage.
