Inclusive communities

Empowerment, reconciliation, cultural diversity, access and equity, equal opportunity, involving minority groups, are vital to meet the diverse needs of any community. We look at practical resources and case studies.

Safe & healthy communities

What makes some places more appealing and why do some communities feel connected and secure and others not?

This section looks at the issues of safety, the built and natural environment, the importance of good design and the impact these have on communities.

Vibrant communities

Recreation, arts and culture and an appreciation of our heritage, contribute to vibrant and active communities. Share your stories by using our online forms to publish to the site.

Enterprising communities

Business and communities need each other. Small and large businesses are linked to communities by the services or local employment they provide. Entrepreneurial and creative businesses see the community as fundamental to their survival and growth.

Here we look at ways that business and economic development can be supported and encouraged by communities and the reciprocal value of partnerships between community and business.

We've included community stories, practical resources and information on programs and business models.

Place management

In broad terms, place management is the combined effort and effect of all those - people, institutions, agencies - involved in the making and governing of a place. Place management initiatives seek to make this effort purposeful (strategic), inclusive and effective.

Here you will find practical tools and guides for place managers and examples of place management.
