Measuring Social Capital in Five Communities in NSWA study by Paul Bullen and Jenny Onyx.
What do we mean by social capital? Do some communities have more social capital than others? What are the indicators of social capital? A study by Paul Bullen and Jenny Onyx 'Measuring Social Capital in five Communities in NSW' looked at Deniliquin, Greenacre, Narellan, Ultimo & Pyrmont and West Wyalong using measures like Participation in the Local Community, Feelings of Trust and Safety, Tolerance of Diversity, Neighbourhood, Family and work connections. The study found that Deniliquin and West Wyalong had higher levels of social capital overall than the other three communities. Why is this?
