Indigenous Community VolunteersIndigenous Community Volunteers is an independent, not-for-profit company that offers support to Indigenous communities to pursue their community development goals in their own way.
Indigenous Community Volunteers (ICV) is making a difference by providing volunteers who can transfer their skills to people in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations. SkillsICV matches skilled volunteers with approved short to medium term projects. Communities and organisations choose the most suitable volunteer for their project. Volunteers go to Indigenous communities to transfer their skills, and when they leave, those skills and knowledge are passed on and remain with that community. Most requests are for volunteers with business related skills, including business planning and development, project management, office and financial administration and systems, and IT. Other skills areas include marketing, horticulture, communication, tourism and trades jobs. ICV will consider all skills requests from communities - they may be as broad as business mentoring, as specific as servicing air conditioners, as routine as office skills or as unusual as chook breeding. The ICV website contains useful links to Indigenous Businesses and Organisations, Volunteering Organisations and Government websites.
