Older People and Volunteering

Report on research conducted on volunteering and "baby boomers" for the 2001 Premier's Forum on Ageing.

The Research was conducted for the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care by Heartbeat Trends.

Focusing on Baby Boomers approaching retirement, the main objectives of the research were to:-

  • gain a sound understanding of baby boomers' attitudes to retirement and to volunteering and whether these attitudes are changing.
  • identify key policy implications and strategies to promote volunteering for future generations of older people
  • provide material for the 2001 Premier's Forum on Ageing, which had as its theme older people and volunteering.
