Citizenscape - Resources and Guides for active citizenship from Western Australia

Citizenscape provides a wealth of practical information on citizenship-related organizations, activities, resources and projects.

This Western Australian government site is particularly useful for those who want to take an active role in shaping the future of their community through government related decision-making.

This site has been designed for citizens; decision-makers and those interested in engaging citizens in civic debate.

Information on Citizenscape outlines how you can get involved in government decision making. It will be particularly useful to individuals and civic advocates who wish to learn more about how to influence decision-makers.

This site will be shaped, in part, by those who use it so feedback is encouraged.

Publications

A number of publications and resources are available, including the series of Consulting Citizens guides.  Publications include:

Working Together: Involving Community and Stakeholders in Decision-Making (2006) includes techniques and tools to help ensure that consultation processes are clear, fair and ultimately rewarding for all those involved.

e-Engagement: Guidelines for Community Engagement using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) (2005) provide a framework for online consultations and should be used with reference to the Consulting Citizens series of guides (listed below).

Consulting Citizens: Engaging with Aboriginal Western Australians: provides guidelines for consulting with Aboriginal Western Australians.

Consulting Citizens: Planning for Success: directs its focus towards those elements of planning that are essential to the creation of effective and meaningful consultations. In particular, it includes material to assist in minimising risk - both project risk and during the consultation process itself.

Consulting Citizens: A Resource Guide: provides guidelines for consulting the community.

These Guides are available for download or can be obtained in hard copy for free.
