Commonwealth Foundation's Citizens and Governance Resources

The Commonwealth Foundation aims to promote increased participation in decision-making at local, national, regional and international levels, by citizens and their organisations.

The Commonwealth Foundation provides a number of resources on Citizens and Governance which offer practical guidance on ways of enhancing the participation of citizens in governance.

The online resources include a range of publications, discussion papers and reports:

  • 'The CHETNA Experience' examines the empowerment of disadvantaged women, adolescents and children.
  • 'Global Synthesis' identifies ways to strengthen, promote, encourage and catalyse the wide variety of initiatives taken by citizens to address issues and problems in their everyday lives.
  • 'Wordbank' provides a range of definitions and a collection of proverbs and sayings relating to governance themes.
  • 'Thinking about Governance' explores a range of thinking on government and governance, and the stakeholders or partners in it.
  • Multi-Sectoral Partnerships for Development and Democracy - case studies summarises ten multi-sector dialogues held around the Commonwealth.
