Australian Federal Government Committees and Inquiries – Making a Submission

The Australian Federal Government also has a number of Committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, providing an opportunity for organisations and individuals to make representations to Parliament and to have their views placed on the public record.

The role of the federal Parliamentary committees is to investigate and to draw attention to what they find. They throw ‘light in dark corners’ and give advice.

As well as inviting public submissions, Federal Government Committees encourage and enable senators to develop special interests and expertise in particular aspects of public policy.

There are Committees in both Houses of Federal Parliament, the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Information on the parliamentary committees is available on the Federal Government website.
