Leadership and Group Dynamics
What makes groups of people work well together?
This transpcript of an ABC Broadcast on the Science Show (22/09/01) with Robyn Williams and Simon Garrod, Professor of Psychology from Glasgow , discusses recent research. Simon Garrod argues," . . . because complex decisions seem to be made by groups, be it families, medical health care teams, parliamentary committees or, of course, juries, the only way in which a group can actually make a decision is by communicating. They have to discuss the issues in order to make a group decision. And group decisions, crucially, are based upon some notion of consensus. That is, everybody in the group must, if you like, have some ownership of that decision." A transpcript of the discussion can be found at the ABC Science Show website. For further information
